01

Why do lines and wrinkles develop?

Lines and wrinkles are a normal part of ageing. Facial movement creates expression lines, while changes in the skin’s collagen and elasticity can make lines more noticeable over time. Sun exposure and smoking can also contribute to skin ageing. These changes vary from person to person.

02

Can I book a consultation about wrinkles?

Yes. A consultation gives you the opportunity to discuss the changes you’ve noticed and ask questions about your skin. Your practitioner can assess your concerns, explain appropriate options and discuss their potential benefits, limitations and risks. A consultation does not commit you to having a procedure.

03

What should I expect at my consultation?

Your practitioner will ask about your concerns, medical history, medications and any previous cosmetic procedures. They will assess the relevant areas and discuss whether an intervention is suitable for you.

Before deciding to proceed, you should understand the proposed approach, alternatives, costs, possible complications and aftercare. Choosing not to have a procedure is always an option.

04

Why do lips and facial volume change with age?

Ageing affects both the skin and the tissues beneath it. Changes in collagen, elasticity and facial fat can alter facial contours and the appearance of the lips. Lips may become thinner or less defined, and lines can become more noticeable around the mouth. These are normal changes and do not necessarily require treatment.

05

Can I discuss concerns about my lip shape or definition?

Yes. You can discuss concerns about lip shape, definition, asymmetry or changes over time during a consultation. Your practitioner will consider your natural anatomy, medical history and expectations when assessing whether any options are appropriate. A particular appearance or result cannot be guaranteed.

06

When would I notice a result, and how long might it last?

This depends on the option being considered and your individual response. Some changes may develop gradually, and an early appearance may be affected by swelling or healing.

Your practitioner can explain the expected timeline, when a result should be reviewed and how long any effects may last for the specific option discussed.

07

How much time should I allow for an appointment?

Appointment length depends on whether you are attending a consultation, a procedure or a review. Please confirm the expected duration when booking. Allow enough time for assessment, questions and any necessary consent discussions, as well as the appointment itself.

08

Can I return to work or exercise straight afterwards?

Recovery and activity restrictions vary according to the procedure and your individual circumstances. You may need to allow for swelling, bruising, discomfort or other effects.

Ask your practitioner when you can return to work, exercise and your usual skincare routine. If you have an event coming up, mention it before making a decision.

09

What risks or side effects should I understand?

Cosmetic procedures carry risks. Depending on the procedure, these may include bruising, swelling, pain, infection, asymmetry or an unwanted result. Some procedures can also cause serious complications, including tissue damage or vision loss.

Your practitioner should explain the risks relevant to the proposed procedure and your health, including which symptoms require urgent medical attention.

10

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Bring details of your medications, supplements, allergies, relevant health conditions and previous cosmetic procedures. Let your practitioner know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or experiencing an illness or skin infection.

Do not stop prescribed medication unless the clinician responsible for it advises you to. Contact the clinic beforehand if you are unsure whether you should attend.

11

What aftercare will I need?

Aftercare depends on the procedure. Before leaving, make sure you understand the written instructions, any activity restrictions, the follow-up arrangements and who to contact if you have concerns.

You should also know which symptoms need urgent medical attention. Seek prompt advice for unexpected or worsening symptoms.
